Candidate vs. reference examples
Previous  Top  Next

Comparisons within the FACTORFINDER-Model are always based on a specific example. One at a time. This example is called the candidate. It is compared with all other examples which are called the reference examples. The relationship between all reference examples is a logical OR. That means we can replace one reference example by the next if the next promises more support for an relevance hypothesis. Whenever an example is analysed and taken as a candidate and the comparison with a specific reference example can not support the current relevance hypothesis as being plausible, it is possible to check the next available reference example whether this example makes the relevance hypothesis look more plausible.
